Co-Founder & CEO, SHEQONOMI
Anu Bhardwaj is a serial entrepreneur, Fulbright Scholar, and digital inclusion pioneer with 25+ years focused on global women's economic empowerment. A Georgetown University alumna (C'98, MA'03) with an MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics and post-graduate research at IIT Bombay, she has spent her career at the intersection of venture capital, deep tech, and social impact — from private placement agent for $175B+ in global PE/VC to founding the world's first women-led podcast platform.
She founded SHEQONOMI — the world's first multi-platform, multi-device podcast app built by women for women — during COVID-19, with her daughter Arya as the first angel investor. Today SHEQONOMI spans 195 countries, 65+ languages, and reaches over 885 million women and girls on Android, iOS, KaiOS, and JioOS. Named #1 Global Innovation Champion by the Islamic Development Bank (selected from 5,000+ applicants), Anu has spoken at Cannes, Blockchain Futurist Conference, AnitaB.org's Hopper Down Under, Georgetown University, the Middle East Enterprise AI & Analytics Summit, and GSMA Mobile World Congress Doha.
SHEQONOMI was selected as one of 100 Global Media Startups at Web Summit Qatar 2025 and is now based at the Qatar Financial Centre. The platform has been built with nearly $1M US in non-dilutive capital from the Islamic Development Bank, the Algorand Foundation, and the SDG Impact Accelerator — and features 5,000+ women-led podcasts in 50+ languages addressing all 17 UN SDG goals.
"Be crystal clear on your career goals and find a wide array of mentors — both male and female — who will help you diversify your skills, your reach, and professional industries. Your network is your net worth."
